Abuzz Over Art

Let's start with a walk Friday evening. While the artists involved with Indian Market are setting up booths, you can stroll along Palace Avenue (on the north side) and visit Manitou Gallery (123 W. Palace Ave.). There, you'll find a reception -- with refreshments on both floors -- for Manitou artists and guests, last year featuring famed sculptor Star Liana York.

York worked on a new piece during market, starting with molded clay. With little prompting, she took the time to give visitors a step-by-step explanation of her work. You could return to Manitou during the weekend to see how her latest piece was progressing. Manitou also presents a group show featuring its other artists during the weekend.
