Summary


Although born in Bernalillo, Nasario Garca grew up in the northeastern part of Albuquerque, in Rio Puerco, where he attended a one-room school, had neither television nor other ammenities, and lived in poverty, but he had a grandmother who told him stories and guided him, little by little, to become a man.

This New Mexican writer, who honors his traditions and the language of his ancestors in his books, says he owes a lot to his paternal grandmother, who daily nurtured him with stories and anecdotes told in Spanish, which he forever will keep in his memory.
