A man charged with extreme cruelty to animals for cutting his dog's ears with scissors and then allegedly dousing them with gasoline to stop the bleeding will ask a judge on Monday to reduce his bond.
State District Judge Michael Vigil said earlier this week he would not consider lowering the $100,000 cash-only bond of Roberto Espino until the case was reviewed by a grand jury. On Thursday, a Santa Fe Grand Jury indicted the 24-year-old Espino on a felony charge of extreme cruelty to animals -- with an alternative of a misdemeanor animal-cruelty charge -- and a felony charge of tampering with evidence.
