For Con Alma Health Foundation, New Mexico's largest health-care foundation, the last few months have been difficult. Our operations, as they related to dealings with the Office of the State Insurance Superintendent, have come under scrutiny, as they should have. But when all is said and done, we have taken responsibility. We have cooperated fully and openly with all authorities and the press and have implemented new policies and procedures to assure that not even the appearance of impropriety will ever occur again.

It is paramount to keep in mind that Con Alma's core mission has never been compromised. Con Alma awards health-related grants to culturally diverse, rural and tribal communities. Our mission is to serve the underserved, and that is what we have done with an unblemished record. There has never been a single instance of impropriety in our grant process and the people who manage those grants are beyond reproach.
