Ten years ago, hip-hop turned a huge corner with historic debuts from legendary artists. Releases from the likes of Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Gang Starr, The Wu-Tang Clan, and The Notorious BIG paved what is modern hip-hop with albums that are still relevant in today's music scene. Along with these, another gem was dropped: Nas' Illmatic.

Illmatic was a 10-track classic, filled to the brim with lyrical superiority and street poetry that still turns the gears of my mind every time I tune in. Every true hip-hop fan has a favorite cut on the album, and some, like myself, take pride in memorizing the album in its entirety.
