Summary
Every year, the Oscars, various other award ceremonies, and most movie critics name their choices for the best in cinema. Around this time, the worst movies of year also get noticed through the Razzies (Golden Rasperry Awards) or via critics' lists -- and generally, these tend to be offensive films, money-grubbing sequels, or quick- buck adaptations of video games or comic books.
It's rare, however, that the best contemporary bad movies are celebrated -- movies that revel in their campiness or are overambitious disasters. If the purpose of movies is to entertain, then these may do the job wonderfully, whether they are delightfully "so bad they're good" or whether they have a certain rubbernecking quality.
