Summary
In 1927, at the age of 5, Hannah Senesh lost her father to a heart attack. She responded by writing her first poem.
In the spring of 1944, at 22, she left the safety of her kibbutz in the British Mandate of Palestine and returned to Nazi-occupied Hungary by way of Yugoslavia to rescue her mother and inspire Jewish resistance.
