Summary


Wintry days and our withering drought have effectively relegated me and other area gardeners to little activity beyond that of wistful dreaming. But gardening is a down-and-dirty sport, short on patience and long on experimentation, whose players are always in search of inspiration.

So, climate be damned, many of us are gardening vicariously -- spending dawn-to-dusk hours leafing through the pages of books and catalogs that flourish despite the drought -- all the while hoping for an early, wet spring.
