Bruges, Belgium, seems like a wonderful place. Brick spires loom over the city's historic center, which is resplendent with immaculately preserved medieval architecture. Swans swim alongside rowboats in the many canals. One can enjoy a pint of fine Belgian ale at an outdoor cafe along the cobblestone streets while looking up at a majestic bell tower. In Bruges contains so many postcard- perfect shots of the city's sights that I wondered if the film was co-produced by Belgium's national tourism board.
