The act commands police officers to check the immigration status of folks they stop for any legal-sounding reason if they reasonably suspect the detainee of being in our country illegally. President Barack Obama immediately, if restrainedly, called the law "misguided." He made it clear that his administration would sue to enjoin enforcement before it takes effect on the 29th of this month. On Tuesday, the Justice Department filed suit in federal court down in Phoenix. Summer there just got hotter.
