Summary
Most artists in Santa Fe would consider artist Colette Hosmer very successful. She has supported herself for years as an artist, she's been represented in area galleries since 1994, her work has been in 18 museum shows, she's had a three-week sculpture residency in Germany, and she's finishing a monumental sculpture commissioned by the city of Albuquerque.
Nevertheless, it's been a continuous struggle for Hosmer to pay the bills, and some achievements typically sought by artists have eluded her: she hasn't had a solo museum show, isn't represented in New York, and, like most area artists, has no retirement savings.
