Summary
Joe Jimenez, a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division, carried a hand-drawn map when he jumped into France in June 1944, the night before the Normandy invasion. Jimenez said he landed in a canal. Every time he raised his head out of the water, a German sniper shot at him. He was missing for three days, the time it took him to find his way back to his company.
Jimenez returned to England to prepare for a second jump in Paris, but that was postponed. In September, he jumped into Holland. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge and was training for a jump into Tokyo when the war ended.See the full content of this document
