In a world where one can get a driver's license in another country without the requirement of residency, I fail to see why the governor is wasting time and money in a special session for this discussion. A better use of our Legislature's time would be to enact annual vehicle inspections for emissions, lights, blinkers, horn and mirrors.
It would be a great source of revenue (as nearly all other states have found) and would ensure added safety for New Mexico citizens. Just yesterday, I saw a Santa Fe Fire Department ambulance with only one headlight; just imagine how much worse it is in the private sector. The Legislature's time is short, and there are much bigger fish to fry than driver's licenses for noncitizens.See the full content of this document
