Movie Review: 'Saw Iii' Takes Torture to New Level

Summary


With the sudden influx and popularity of the new horror subgenre of torture films, it's no surprise that Lions Gate Entertainment attempted to squeeze even more cash out of its popular Saw series by releasing yet another sequel just in time for Halloween. Statistically, it has worked so far.

Taking No. 1 at the box office with ease, Saw III quickly scored $33.6 million. Its popularity is apparent even in the small town of Santa Fe; this was the first time in my three years here that I saw the theater packed -- mostly with teenagers giggling and making snide remarks here and there.
