Summary


What would you do if your self-centered, psychotic mother decided to give you away to her shrink? This is a central question posed in Running With Scissors, Ryan Murphy's film adaptation of the memoir written by Augusten Burroughs.

Burroughs, played by Joseph Cross, is a resilient 14-year-old growing up in the '70s with his mother, Deirdre (Annette Bening), an Anne Sexton wannabe who has fits of lunacy and delusions of grandeur, and his father, Norman (Alec Baldwin), a disengaged, alcoholic college professor.
