In Bernalillo, they're working on a station to serve the Rail Runner. That commuter train is expected to be running from the Sandoval County seat downriver to Belen sometime in January. Expectations are high for thousands whose jobs have them driving bumper to bumper into Albuquerque.
Just this week, the state reached a tentative agreement to buy 100 miles of rail line from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, and there's a possibility of purchasing tracks all the way to Raton.
