A man accused of mutilating a dog's ears with scissors and trying to stop the blood flow with gasoline was possibly trying to crop the dog's ears for cosmetic purposes, a Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society official said Wednesday.
A 4-month-old female Doberman pinscher arrived at the shelter Monday bleeding heavily from what remained of her ears, shelter Director Kate Rindy said.
