>> Waking up early on Saturday is about as fun as a dentist appointment -- and, for me, almost as rare -- but some occasions warrant it: like last weekend's powdery opening at Ski Santa Fe and a Land Rover LR3 to get us there.

With temperatures in the single digits, I grabbed my coffee and ventured out to pick up friends. Our gear packed, seat heaters on full and hard rock cranking from the Rover's 14 speakers (this being the range-topping HSE model), we headed up the mountain. The unplowed road was no challenge for the snow setting on the LR3'sTerrain Response system, which made a relaxing drive out of what could have been a nail-biting experience in a lesser car.
