From his childhood, Pascal remembers the seductive smell of wood. He spent many hours in his grandfather's studio - nestled in Provence, France - watching him create wood sculptures.

"I remember wondering whether this exotic smell was the wood or the materials that my grandfather put on the wood," he said. "After many years of my company in the studio, my grandfather looked up at me with his electric blue eyes and said, 'If you want to become creative, you had better hurry up, because I won't be around forever.' "
