I read with chagrin bordering on ludicrous absurdity the article about Congress (Republicans of course but, surprisingly, also Democrats) asking the Iraqis to foot more of the "war's" bill.
Didn't we invade Iraq without provocation? Haven't we killed tens of thousands of their people, allowed destruction of their artifacts, their museums and their ancient history? Haven't we instrumented the establishment of a puppet Nouri-al-Maliki religious theocracy, attracting al-Qaida to Iraq, and, along with our previous 12 years of sanctions, haven't we terrorized and punished that pathetic and beleaguered little country for a full generation? Our performance in Iraq has been despicable and should fill the hearts of all Americans with shame.
