What with potholes in need of repair and police presence needed to deter muggings and holdups in many parts of town, the notion of City Council involvement in the illegal-immigration debate might strike many Santa Fe taxpayers as folly of an especially wasteful kind.
Yet with Gov. Susana Martnez calling for repeal of a state law allowing illegal immigrants to get New Mexico driver's licenses, and at least one bill in the legislative hopper to trade licenses for temporary permits, a local-government nudge for letting 'em keep their licenses can't hurt.See the full content of this document
