LISTEN: When it's the most needed, listen to someone. Become a volunteer advocate, provide support and a listening ear to people in times of great difficulty. Empower callers who have experienced sexual assault, abuse or any type of trauma. Guide them to regain a sense of security by providing information and resources. Animal careASSISTANCE DOGS OF THE WEST: Need volunteers. Lots to do, flexible hours, community involvement. 986-9748.THE HORSE SHELTER: The shelter serves New Mexico's abandoned, abused and neglected horses, works to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome these animals and to raise awareness of their plight and this not so uncommon problem throughout the state. The shelter needs volunteers to help in many capacities -- from mucking to horse care and construction projects; from computer work to fundraising and event planning -- the volunteers can choose.
