Work on the Oldest House and Oldest Church will stop for at least two months after the city of Santa Fe "red-tagged" the reconstruction project this week.
St. Michael's Corp., which owns the two historic adobe buildings as well three others on East De Vargas Street, had permission to strip the cement stucco and replace it with a real mud finish, city spokeswoman Laura Banish said. But, she said, the firm did not have permission to cut off the vigas on the south side of Oldest House.
